Unity Game Developer

Company

Stitch Media is an interactive studio telling stories with new technology. We produce games, apps, websites, virtual reality & experiences for diverse audiences.

Role Overview

As Stitch Media's Unity Game Developer, you will be responsible for developing new features for our upcoming virtual reality (VR) and flatscreen video-game ‘Elsewhere Electric’. Elsewhere Electric is an asymmetric game for two players: one in VR, one on a flat-screen system. It's a spooky roguelike Metroidvania puzzler for you and someone you trust. Or at least someone you tolerate. Just make sure you're on speaking terms, because you won't get far by yourself.

Stitch Media is actively working towards a diverse workforce and encourages applicants who traditionally have been under-represented in the digital industry.

We are working remotely across Ontario and can work with any candidate permanently based in Ontario. You may have to travel very occasionally to meet team members in person when it becomes safe to do so. For this reason we are seeking a candidate with the ability to work independently, solve problems, and debug with minimal supervision.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop features for Elsewhere Electric, particularly related to Virtual reality, mobile porting, analytics and tuning the timing of events
  • Implement best practices/policy for all technical work internally at Stitch Media and throughout the project’s lifecycle
  • Write technical specifications for all work intended for non-technical staff members and external reviewers
  • Work to deadlines set by project management
  • Alert supervisor promptly to upcoming development concerns found during production/prototyping
  • Update project management documentation regularly to track progress
  • Continuously update development skills required to use current technology such as hand tracking virtual reality

Knowledge and skills

  • Developed and deployed one or more Unity apps or games
  • Proficient in C#, and object-oriented programming concepts
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, version control and QA
  • Experience with code and asset optimization
  • Excited to find creative solutions to difficult problems

Bonus

  • AR/VR or console game development experience
  • Experience with Shaders for visual effects
  • Experience with native development for iOS or Android
  • Experience integrating web services and public APIs using JSON
  • Passion for game design
